A Trip to Tabuk:Day 3 & 4 at Tabuk
We arrived in Tabuk after crossing the arid deserts of Madain Saleh and Tayma. Tabuk is the largest military city of Northwest Saudi Arabia. It is also bordering Jordan, making it the main entry point of road traffic for travelers from Jordan, Egypt, Israel, Syria, Iraq and Turkey. We have no intention to visit Jordan as Naufal didnt have his passport yet . Takperlah takdek rezeki, next time.
We were invited by the Malaysian Ambassador and his wife for a dinner at one of the restaurants in Tabuk. The food was not bad. We had nasi beriyani (mutton, chicken and prawn) and Saudi champagne. Champagne nie yang halal punya. Sedap wooo.
The next day in the afternoon, we went to visit historical sites like Taubah mosque and a fort.
At night, we attended a national day celebration organized by the Malaysian community of Tabuk, launched by our Malaysian Ambassador. The main event was singing National Anthem, semangat giler ! The Malaysians (nurses) performed traditional dances (Bollywood pun ader..adoooo.. 0) ). Ehmmm very interesting! Great Malaysian foods were served like lepat pisang, sri muka, nasi tomato, rendang and roti canai...memang sedap. Naufal slept very well throughout the event although the music was quite loud. That's my boy!!!

A Trip to Tabuk: Day 2 at Madain Saleh
Madain Saleh is also known as Cities of Saleh. This historical site was built by the Nabateans between 100 BC and 100 CE and later substantially destroyed by an immense flood and earthquake as to warrant mentioned in the Quran due to their disobedience to the preaches of Prophet Saleh . The Nabateans are also known as Thamud. There are ancient inscriptions carved in the face of the rock as well as tombs and magnificent rock formation shaped by nature. The most outstanding tomb is Qasr Al-Farid (Palace of Farid). The tomb was constructed like a monolith in the desert, purposely for their kin and descendants.

A Trip to Tabuk -Day 1 at Al-Ula
We went for a trip to Tabuk last week in a group of 4 cars. Our convoy headed to Tabuk passing by several cities namely Madinah, Khaybar, Al-Ula, Madain Saleh and Tayma. It was a long journey of over 1,100 kilometers fuh !! Alhamdulillah, Naufal was doing fine throughout the journey. We guessed he understood the excitement we looked forward in the expedition . We stayed overnight at Arac Hotel which is located at Al-Ula, a city popular for its quiet and peaceful valley filled with palm trees and surrounded by magnificent rocky outcrops. 22 km from the hotel is one of the most outstanding historical monuments in Saudi Arabia, the ruins of 2,000 years old Nabatean city of Madain Saleh.

Home sweet home?
Do you wanna know how the houses kat sini look like? Believe or not, houses overhere takdek atap .Why? Because kat sini takdek hujan unlike Malaysia yang mmg raining selalu. In terms of architectural design mmg tak cun coz mostly berbentuk box n rectangle. Tapi wait till u enter the house. Mmg cun giler, mostly decorated by imported furnishings! My house? Biasa ajek . Sepanjang saya berada di sini, only once i experienced hujan. Tu pun hujan rintik2. How i miss the rain ! FYI, here ada 2 seasons: summer and winter. Summer season starts from June to Sept. During this season, the weather is damn hot...over fourty degrees, can be dehydrated! Mmg orang tak keluar rumah! Pasang aircond 24 hours! During winter season laks, of course no snow tapi the weather is nice. Windy and a bit cold ala ala spring lah.Masa nilah most of Arab Communities like to go for picnic. Don't be surprised if you see people picnic kat tepi-tepi highway! This is NORMAL here . Time nie jugak mmg best nak buat barbeque!!
Oklah ada some pictures of Naufal and a picture of Naufal and his friend, Farhin who was born 2 weeks after Naufal.

Dates Trees...fuyooo

[b]I visited Madinah last June. What makes the visit memorable was the company of Naufal's atuk and nenek in the visit. They were very happy having a chance to visit the holy place which is considered the first Islamic city in the world. I would like to share some photos on the places we managed to visit in Madinah such as Masjid Nabawi Assharif, Masjid Quba', Masjid Qiblatain and Jabal Uhud. Not to forget, I also attach a photo potraying dates tree taken in Madinah for your pleasant view in particular for those not familiar.

[b] I have been in Jeddah for almost 8 months. Ehmm..how time flies!! I miss Akademi Fantasia, Char Kuey Teow, Roti Canai, Bowling and Cinema . Here there's not much entertainment provided for the public. No cinema. Luckily, I have satellite and I can watch English movies (coz i dont understand Arabic of course!).
Arab culture is of course way different from Malaysian culture. I am not getting the same kinda freedom as I was in Malaysia. Here, woman is not allowed to drive. Need to wear jubah a.k.a Arbaya ( a traditional costume for woman) everytime I go out. Ever wonder how Arbaya looks like? Take a look at the picture. FYI, all shops are required to close whenever it's time for prayer. Normally, it will close for about 10-15 minutes. However, all the shops (except for Restaurant and Grocery stores) will be closed after zohor and will be opened only after 5 p.m. This is why normally the Arab communities will go out for shopping after Maghrib prayer.
Although my families are not around, alhamdulillah, Malaysian community in Jeddah is friendly and helpful. Sometimes, we had small gathering and we also celebrate occasions like Maulidur Rasul,Agong's Birthday, National Day and Hari Raya. Recently, on 14th August 2004 we had a gathering in one of Malaysian house. We will be having another gathering this coming Thursday. Asyik makan ajek. Whatever it is, I am glad to be here coz Mekkah is just 45 minutes from Jeddah. In other words, I got the opportunity to perform Umrah and Haj, insya allah....
